In tandem with the visual art creation of Robin Matto is his passion for making music. Since his early teens he would buy obscure-looking vinyl and make mixtapes on an old midi-hifi system. During his school years RM started to listen to electronic music and became a fan of the emerging UK underground sounds of that time- especially Drum‘n’bass. RM started regularly buying records and DJing at houseparties and clubs around the South Coast, at University RM played on Pirate Radio stations and went on to become a resident at a night in Reading where he played alongside legendary DJ’s like; the late Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Doc Scott, Klute, Commix, Logistics, Hype, Bailey, Alix Perez.

Similar to the photographic textures Robin Matto has amassed over the years is his huge collection of sounds; gathered from random, rare & obscure vinyl crate digging, field recordings, films, and the internet.

Robin Matto also has a soft spot for vintage-analogue keyboards & Synthesizers, reverb & delay pedals and tape machines.

The Music of Robin Matto is an extension of the textured aesthetic and themes of his visual art.
