Robin Matto mainly uses spray and acrylic paint on his canvasses, plus any other tools/materials that come to hand such as mud, car-sealer and glue. From experimenting with these unusual materials Matto paintings have a distinctive texture, which have become his artistic signature. The Work of Robin Matto has a strong sense of fluidity and immediate feel, similar in some respects to the style of street art/graffiti. The raw nature of his final presentation and choice of humble materials are a reaction towards the clinically presented and ultimately soulless pictures that pollute many high street shops and galleries, masquerading as “art”.
